Understanding Preview vs Production Mode
Learn the difference between Preview and Production modes and how to go live.
FOMOchat has two account modes to help you get started for free and upgrade when ready.
Preview Mode (Free Tier)
When you create your account, you start in Preview Mode.
What Preview Mode Includes:
- Your widget is live and visible to all visitors on your site
- "Powered by FOMOchat" branding displayed
- 100 lifetime visitor credits included
- Perfect for getting started and testing with real traffic
💡 Key Insight: Preview Mode is completely functional—your widget works just like Production. The only differences are the branding and the visitor limit.
Production Mode
When you're ready to remove branding, activate Production Mode for just $1.
What Production Mode Includes:
- No branding — widget looks fully native to your site
- 200 lifetime visitors included with activation
- Payment method on file for seamless upgrades
- Access to subscription plans for more visitors
How to Activate:
- Open Settings or click Launch Production
- Complete the one-time $1 activation
- Your widget now runs without branding!
About Test Visitors
When you're building or editing your FOMOchat in the dashboard editor, any interactions are test visitors. These:
- Don't count toward your visitor limits
- Are automatically cleaned up
- Let you preview changes without affecting analytics
Switching and Upgrading
- You can upgrade from Preview to Production anytime
- Once in Production, you can subscribe to higher tiers for more visitors
- Your settings and analytics are always preserved
