Creating Your First FOMOchat

Follow these steps to create your first AI-powered chat widget.

Step 1: Start the Creation Flow

From your dashboard, click the "New FOMOchat" button. This launches the guided creation wizard.

Step 2: Choose Your Widget Purpose

Select what type of page this chat is for:

Purpose	Description	Best For
Chat on marketing pages	Standard social proof chat	Landing pages, product pages, homepages
Chat during a video	Synced with video playback	Webinars, courses, video sales letters

💡 Key Insight: Choose "Chat during a video" if you have recorded content—it transforms pre-recorded videos into interactive experiences.

Step 3: Set Up Domain Knowledge

Enter your website URL and click Analyze. FOMOchat will scan your site to understand:

What your product or service does
Key features and benefits
Pricing information
Target audience

You can also:

Add a custom Goal (what action you want visitors to take)
Provide Additional Context that the AI should know
Specify a Follow-up Email for lead notifications
Select your Language (19 languages supported)

For video mode: Paste your video transcript here so the AI can generate context-aware conversations.

💡 Key Insight: The more accurate your website content, the better the AI will understand and represent your business.

Step 4: Configure Participants

For Marketing Pages

FOMOchat creates AI participants who will chat on your widget:

AI Company Rep — Answers visitor questions using your website knowledge
Simulated Users — Create social proof by discussing your product

Use the sliders to control:

Avg Participants — How many people in the chat (1-20)
Customer/Prospect ratio — Balance of satisfied customers vs curious newcomers
Include Skeptic — Add someone who asks tough questions

For Video Mode

Choose your participant source:

Load existing chat — Upload a real chat export from a past webinar
Create new chat — Generate participants and conversation with AI

Step 5: Generate the Conversation

Click Generate Conversation to create the chat script. You can:

Regenerate if you want different content
Edit individual messages
Adjust timing and flow
Control duration, reply speed, and topic pacing

💡 Pro Tip: Review the generated conversation carefully. The AI creates a great starting point, but a few personalized tweaks can make it even more authentic.

Step 6: Review Settings

Configure how your widget behaves:

Position — Bottom-left or bottom-right
Primary Color — Match your brand
Visitor Info Collection — Name, email, or both
Visibility Rules — Show on specific pages
Display Mode — Button (bubble) or input (inline)

Step 7: Install the Widget

Copy the embed code and paste it into your website's HTML, just before the closing </body> tag.

Step 8: Go Live

Your widget starts in Preview Mode (free with branding). When you're ready for a professional look, activate Production Mode to remove branding.

💡 Note: While building in the editor, test visitors don't count toward your limits and are automatically cleaned up.
